Spinningists distinguish three main types of spinnerbait:

1. The spinnerbait itself is standard – a rigidly fixed head on the rocker, one or two, rarely more, petals. The head can be equipped with a silicone skirt, octopus, twister and any other “krakozyabr”.
2. Catcher (catcher) . Everything is the same, only the jig head is not rigidly fixed, but moves freely on the rocker eye.
3. Buzzbait (bassbait) – instead of a petal, a propeller or fan is installed.

How to make a spinnerbait with your own hands: materials, tools

If you want to do well, do it yourself. This fully applies to spinning lures. To make a spinnerbait lure for pike you will need:

• nippers, round-nose pliers, soldering iron and solder for soldering units;
• wire – steel stainless steel (string, wire for an apiary), rigid to keep its shape (for pike, the optimal diameter is 0.6-1 mm);
• jig heads of different shapes – experiment;
• petals – we recommend purchased ones, there are also sets, or you can take from the old, not most popular spinners;
• accessories – clockwork rings, swivels, locking beads;
• silicone skirt, vibrotail, twister, slug and all sorts of other baits you like.

There are a lot of designs, as well as approaches to manufacturing. What you need to consider when making a spinnerbait for pike:

1. The spinnerbait size can vary in the range of 10-25 cm in both planes. Pike loves large lures – not a dogma, but more often than not.
2. The shoulders of the bait must be commensurate. Otherwise, the bait will not start properly, the flight characteristics will be low, and the catching power will be too low. We recommend that you study the performance characteristics of several working lures in order to understand the ratio of the shoulders.
3. Also, all parts of the spinnerbait should be commensurate. It is not permissible to put a 1 inch twister on a petal of 4 sizes according to Meps.

Tackle equipment

The rod is suitable for fast and medium-fast action. Spinnerbait bait is stubborn, so noodles are not an option. Plus, a hard hook is often required, which is also possible only with a fast spinning action. Pike reel 2000-2500 according to Dive classification. Cord 0.1-0.15 depending on fishing conditions, tackle and expected trophy. If large spinnerbaits with a long main shoulder are used, then a leash is often not required, the pike very rarely cuts off such baits. And as you know, it is better to avoid unnecessary elements in the tackle. If the usual, almost square shape, then it is better to play it safe and put a titanium leash 20-30 cm.

Places of application and technique of wiring spinnerbait for pike

For ourselves, we have identified three main places / situations when it is worth turning to this bait.

River and lake smooth drop-offs – jig, undulating conduction

Spinnerbait is a lure that plays well in both planes, both vertically and horizontally. In the horizontal plane, due to the vibration and shine of the petals and the skirt (fish), in the vertical plane, as it falls, the petal continues to rotate as it falls, plus the skirt of the bait temptingly lifts up, creating additional volume and acoustic effect. In connection with this quality, it is logical to fish for dumps on rivers and lakes, underwater capes and ditches, point boulders. The approach is as follows – we tap the bottom at the intended place of the edge with an ordinary jig in order to study the nuances. In the absence of a reaction, a replacement for a spinnerbait. We throw and let the bait splash down. We deepen to the bottom and make a dash with a tip – to start the bait. Further, stepped wiring along the dump, so that the head rattles the bottom.And everything is as usual steps – undermining-wiring-pause and in a circle.
