What should be the tackle
Tackle for the August pike does not differ from that used in the summer. An exception is hunting for trophy specimens in pits, large water areas, and on channel edges. Such fishing is often accompanied by the use of large and heavy lures, which imposes its own requirements on the gear used. In such cases, you need stronger tackle in all its components – a quality blank with a test of up to 40 grams (less if there is no need to use baits of this weight), a 2500-3000 reel according to Shimano classification, a braided line with a diameter of 0.12-018, a leash with a length of at least 25-30 cm. In conclusion, it is worth noting that changes in the tactics of searching for pike and fishing for spinning mainly concern the end of August, when summer is losing ground to autumn cooling. The beginning, and often the middle, are similar to July – the heat, the water is blooming, the fish is passive.
