Balda (aka eggs) is a typical fool that is used for catching perch and other predatory fish, especially popular when fishing steeply from ice in winter. It is believed that this type of tyrant was invented by the Ural fishermen, which is why it is sometimes called the Ural bastard. On a perch, the noodle shows a decent result even in the hands of a relatively inexperienced winter angler, due to a relatively simple device, a trivial approach to animation and understandable behavior under water.
A baldovaty “egg” – one of the types of no-hook fishing, is an olive-shaped load (in most cases) and two hooks on one hook. There are species that resemble underwater insects, and there are ones that are closer to small fry. Balda can be used at any time of the year for catching predatory and peaceful fish, both from ice and from a boat. But it is in the winter that it shows its best qualities in perch.
Bulldozer device, varieties with photos and videos
In fact, the bald is a cross between a jig and a spoon, and depending on the size and weight, it can be either closer to a spoon or a typical pot-
bellied rewinder . https://youtu.be/PYw2HbUuh6Q There are a lot of different variations of the bulldozer. The material, shape and weight of the sinker, the presence / absence of beads between the load and the hooks, ornaments on the hooks differ. Also, the bulldozer can be retrofitted with an additional attractive element in the form of a decorated hook – a slider 20-30 centimeters higher than the main bait (for more details, see the section on how to make a bulldozer yourself). There are also ringing options for the bulldozer, which are good when fishing for an active frisky perch: https://youtu.be/9_66vwudC3A Microbalda is good not only for perch, but also for white fish – roach, podleschik.
Advice! Pieces of edible rubber, which is always in abundance at the spinning player, can and should be planted on the bulldozer. A piece of worm or twister from the edible is put on by prying the hooks.
Working weight varies. It makes sense to use a bulldozer weighing 5-10 grams for a trophy large perch. https://youtu.be/5oO4GBlU5d8
The technology of catching perch on the noodles: search, tactics, posting technique
The general tactics of catching perch with a noodle is not much different from catching, say,
with a rewinder . The perch needs to be found, and its camps vary from month to month. Then seduce into a bite using the correct feed and animation of the bait and hook in time.
Searching for perch in winter
Balda works especially well on the first and last ice, when the perch actively feeds and moves through the reservoir. In order not to repeat in detail, we recommend that you study the
section of the article on where and how to look for perch in the winter on the pond.
- at the beginning of winter, after the formation of ice, perch should be looked for in late autumn camps – near the coast, among branches and vegetation, on dumps in depth
- in the wilderness, perch moves to pits and areas near them, to coastal and channel edges, as well as areas with a high oxygen content
- at the end of winter, after the appearance of rims and liquid water, it is worth looking for it in such places, as well as closer to the coast.
When fishing for perch, it is important not only to find the parking lot of the striped robber, but also to swing the hole, that is, to provoke him to bite. In the case of a noodle, this is achieved by monotonous or, on the contrary, chaotic knocking on the bottom. For this process, a bait is often selected that is larger than it is planned to fish in the future. In order to make the cloud of turbidity as noticeable as possible.
Where is the best place to fish? For this reason, it is on a soft bottom, where turbidity can be provoked, that Ural eggs show the best result. These include silt, sand, mule. On rocky ridges, you can also successfully catch, but there are an order of magnitude more hooks.
How do I animate a decoy?
The balda in free fall plays interestingly with decorated hooks, which, even after landing, float beautifully above the bottom. This distinguishes this bait from similar ones. This factor determines the main type of wiring of the bulldozer. The bait freely falls to the bottom, upon impact, a cloud of turbidity rises and a pause is maintained so that the hooks freely fall to the bottom. The larger the fastening loop, the longer the pause. Further, the wiring begins by type – undermining-free fall down, etc. The amplitude, frequency and speed of detonations depends on the activity of the perch, the weight of the bait and tackle. The more active the sailor, the more frequent and faster the jerks. With a passive fish, there is more pause, jerking is lazy.
when catching a perch on a devil… The bite most often occurs at the moment the bait falls to the bottom, so you always need to be ready for the hook.
The main rule when fishing with a bulldozer is to remember that this is a bottom bait and it should always be at the bottom in the lower position and this moment must be controlled with a nod – it should be unloaded at the bottom of the animation.
Large Ural eggs show themselves well when fishing for large humpback whales in large water areas. Often better than balancers and spinners. Do not forget to rest the hole. If the bite does not follow within 5-7 minutes, it is worth moving to the next, previously prepared hole. If the bites are implicit, light jabs or butting, then it is worth diversifying the game, for example, with sharper and more amplitude jerks.
Making a noodles for catching perch and other fish: photo and video
Balda is one of the baits that are easier and cheaper to make with your own hands than to buy. A minimum of components, tools and skills are required. It is also worth noting that homemade products almost always catch better than stock baits and tackles. To make classic tackle, we will need:
- a weight (olive, pellet, pear, cylinder, trapezoid, etc.) can be with a poured or hanging hook, or without it;
- fishing line;
- two single wide-ear hooks (Ovner S59 type);
- beads, beads, cambric, lurix, artificial bloodworm and other infusions;
- a swivel and an additional hook of a smaller size, if you plan to knit an additional “bait” above the main bait;
- awl, pliers / drill.
Good to know. Lead and tin are soft and can be easily drilled with an awl. Brass, bronze or tungsten weights are best taken either ready-made, or processed with a drill using a vise.
Then the hooks are taken so that the length of the forend is less than the length of the weight (by about a quarter). They are decorated with beads, cambric and beads – this element acts as an imitation of bait. We

Advice! All rigs are best secured to the main line with a small fastener. This will allow on fishing to quickly change one dork for another, which were previously tied at home.
Tackle preparation
Tackle directly depends on the weight of the baits used. Balance matters. Most often, tackles are used on the micro-bald, similar to fishing with a rewinder. If the weight of the Ural eggs is decent, or if a spoon is used as a load, then you can use an ordinary fishing rod, similar to the Soviet ones. Be sure to be quite tough and not noodley, otherwise you won’t be able to play the bald with sharp jerks. And this is exactly the type of animation that is needed. The
